JC Raulston Arboretum

The JC Raulston Arboretum is a beautiful 10-acre garden with a large collection of cold-tolerant temperate zone plants.  The arboretum is part of Department of Horticultural Sciences at NC State University and as such, is a research and teaching garden.  Specifically, the arboretum identifies plants that are adapted to thrive in the climate of the NC Piedmont.  There are numerous gardens within the arboretum, each showcasing different types of plants.  The arboretum is named for the late Dr. JC Raulston, who founded it in 1976.
