Cold Weekend

posted Feb 12, 2012, 11:47 AM by Justin P
We actually got some cold weather in Raleigh this weekend.  On Saturday, Sandy and I went to Lake Lynn and did two laps and fed the ducks and geese.  We also saw a great blue heron, but he was not interested in the bread.  This morning, I led a hike along the next sections of the Falls Lake Trail.  We carpooled to the trailhead at the end of Jimmy Rogers Road where it turns to become Little Rogers Road.  We hiked the short spur trail then turned right to start section 15.  It was a very cold morning (at least compared to this winter so far) so we hiked at a brisk pace to keep warm.  We crossed Cheek Road at the bridge across Falls Lake and continued section 16, a short section to Hereford Road.  We stopped at the end for a quick snack then headed back.  On the way back, we stopped at the new bridge over Little Lick Creek for those who had missed last week's hike.  It was cold enough for ice to form on Little Lick Creek.
