Falls Lake Section 22

Today, I led a hike along Section 22 of the Falls Lake Trail, starting on Red Mill Road just past the bridge over Ellerbe Creek.  We hiked in the woods for a bit and crossed a creek before coming out in a clearing with power lines.  Crossing over, we went back into the woods near the remains of an old railroad tressle over Ellerbe Creek where it feeds into Falls Lake.  The trail followed the shore for a bit then went up to railroad tracks near a field.  The trail went back into the woods, departing from Falls Lake and crossed more power line clearings and open fields.  Near some ponds just past the fields, we found some tadpole eggs in a big puddle.  For the last stretch of the trail, it was back in the woods until crossing Red Mill Road again, our turnaround point.  Near the beginning, Sandy spotted a beaver near the railroad trussle remains.  This was the second-to-last section, so in two weeks, I will have completed the Falls Lake Trail.
